It was so carefree when my life began,
As the well-born son of a princely man.
The days were bright and the nights were peaceful
Before this war and hardship came.

The lord to whom we swore allegiance has been defeated.
We have lost partly life, partly freedom.
As a rightless one, I served, suffered hellish torment.
The secret escape was the only option.


And I hope and I laugh and I run and I live,
And I hope and I laugh and I run and am free...

I am free from the shadows of this world.
Finally free - from the shackle that holds me.
And I feel the great power,
When the new day awakens.

Now I live as a shadow, as a breath of air in nothingness.
My home is the forest, far away from any light.
So I wander on, lonely day after day,
To see what fate may bring me.


So I keep running, I run as fast as the wind,
Until I find peace.
And so I keep walking, searching for that place,
Where I can rest.
