War Over Me (commentary) Songtext

War Over Me (commentary) Songtext
It′s just got some sex on the track, straight up
Like, it's just got that dark, haunting, moody vibe
And this was, you know, another one of those songs we had to fight for
We fought for this song for like, five years
And, uh, there′s something just about that groove in the verse, man
I had struggled with writing a melody for this one
And this was towards the end of the process of the record
Where I was just like, "Alright, what's next," you know?
And it was, you know, it was about warfare for me
Like I said on the last track, you know
And it's, uh, it′s about my sinful nature
It′s about, you know, the flame
How many times I just keep touching that flame
I keep getting burnt, and keep going back to that flame
It's like, when am I gonna learn?
And, uh, you know, I believe the Devil
Comes to me in many different forms
You know, I feel that, that I′ve, I
She can be sexy, you know what I'm saying?
She can be a bottle of booze
She could be a bag of pills
She could be, you know what I′m saying?
It's like, it just, it′s that, it's that fucking battle, man
And, uh, you know, it's like
Finally, it′s like just going
Right when I′m about to touch the flame
It's like I finally realize, just fucking pull back, dude
Just stop, you know?
And it′s that, and it's that moment, that
Moment that you decide to just pull back
That′s what changes everything
And, uh, it's a power, those are power
And I have moments like that all the time, you know what I′m saying?
Where it's like I'm going to touch that flame
And I′m just like, "Don′t"
'Cause you know, you know, it′s like
It's like the child that just keeps getting burnt
You know what I′m saying?
It's like, "God, when am I gonna learn?"
So it′s a battle, you know what I'm saying?
And I, I put it all out there on this record, you know
And, uh, that's a very powerful song, you know
I feel like it′s one of the best songs on the record
I feel that that song live will fucking just create the sickest mood
You know, I feel like that should be a song in the live set
Great track, great track
Like, it's just got that dark, haunting, moody vibe
And this was, you know, another one of those songs we had to fight for
