Kentucky Songtext
von Sammi Smith

I won′t forget the first time that I saw him
I overheard somebody say Kentucky was his name
He just stood there unconcerned
And sang as though the angels were all listening
I was passing through on my way to some forlorn forgotten place
I only planned to while away a lost and lonely Texas winter evening
But I found myself wishing I could stay and listen to Kentucky sing

Won't you sing that song again Kentucky (Kentucky)
I will smile and sing along with you
I′ll be on my way again Kentucky (Kentucky)
Every time I hear that song I'll gently think of you

Well, things have changed since that Texas winter night so long ago
The dreams that I was dreaming then have finally become reality
Now we just go from town to town, laughing, singing every song we know
And life is good for me and my Kentucky

So let's sing that song again Kentucky (Kentucky)
Let′s sing it loud, Kentucky I love you
And I′ll never go away from you Kentucky (Kentucky)
Every time I hear that song I'll gently reach and touch you
