Seeing Things Songtext
von Liza Minnelli

Seeing Things Songtext

I always said that I got my drive from my mother
But I got my dreams from my father
I mean, we′d look at a situation, right?
And he'd see the possibilities
I always saw the reality
The dreamer and the realist
Let me explain like this

We′d see a child eating ice cream
Right there before us he'd stand
He'd say, "Look, what a happy face"
I′d say, "Look, he′s got dirty hands"

We'd see a child in a maple tree
We′d watch him climb, he and I
I'd say, "Come down, you′ll hurt yourself"
He'd say, "Go up, you′re touching the sky"
Quite a difference between us
No observer could miss
At the difference between us
He'd say this
Seeing things
There's a way of seeing things

A certain way of seeing things
That makes the difference

Is that sun up there
A circle spun of light and air
Or just a practical everyday sun?
You and I have a way of seeing things
A different way of seeing things
He′d say, "Paint your truth with my illusion
Please consider seeing things my way"

Now here I am playing at the music hall
And when I see the wonders here
I say, "Truth can still allow illusion"

I am earth, and he was sky
And I loved him very much
And every single day
I′m grateful that I'm seeing things his way
