You′re feeling young and green
Eternally sixteen
When suddenly
It's middle age
You wonder where you′ve been
What happened in between
Youth
And middle age
They say "age is in the eye of the beholder"
And what they see is someone getting older
So don't call them laughter lines
They're wrinkles, they′re the signs
That suddenly, you′re middle-aged


The mirror doesn't lie
You′ve kissed your youth goodbye
Officially, you're mature
The thought of partying ′til dawn
Only makes you yawn
Somehow it's lost its allure
People now must take you as they find you
But you′re careful now, to keep the light behind you
And though you dye your hair
You're going grey elsewhere
And suddenly, it's middle age

But there are compensations too
You know what you wanna do
You also know who you are
Policemen call you "madam"
And all those boys, you had ′em
You don′t miss the back of the car
Occasionally, you find you're reminiscing
But let′s be honest, what is it you're missing?
′Cause most of it was hell
So perhaps it's just as well
That suddenly, it′s middle age

So there's no reason to be blue
Come on! You're only halfway through
