Burning Tree Songtext
von Dani Sylvia

Burning Tree Songtext

I always tend to leave my pain on lonely carriages on trains
And crying on planes, the night flight back to you
I figure if I leave it there like works of art on tattered chairs
Then maybe I won′t be so scared when I'm with you

That I′ll fall apart again
That you'll break my heart again

Author, you're bringing me back to my knees
Dragging these books behind me
Searching for words that might mean something to someone like me
Author, I tore up my own masterpiece
None of my chapters complete
And I never knew I believed
′Til I was praying underneath the burning tree

I practice so I′d know the rhymes
And read the truth between the lines
But I forget them every time I turn the pages
They tell me not to be so blind
My enemies are in my mind
Rehearse destruction, read the signs, be courageous

But I'm falling apart again
And I′m breaking my heart again

Author, you're bringing me back to my knees
Dragging these books behind me
Searching for words that might mean something to someone like me
Oh, author, I tore up my own masterpiece
None of my chapters complete
And I never knew I believed
′Til I was praying underneath the burning tree

There's familiar fiction inside of this chapter
When you take away all of my ever after
Now I know hell, but where′s my rapture?
How much further?

Author, you're bringing me back to my knees
Dragging these books behind me
And I only wanted to mean something to somebody
Oh, author, I tore up my own masterpiece
'Cause none of these chapters complete, no
And I never knew I believed
′Til I was praying underneath the burning tree
