Whither has gone the sun?
Where are the stars to light my way?

These winds cry a mournful tale,
Speaking of unutterable loss.
Blight has fallen upon these lands,
And I am a failed god
In this kingdom of dust and ash.


With heavy heart I walk
Amidst a throng of broken memories.
Thought has quenched the light.
And I carve my grief in every stone,
In every dead tree.

Whence has come this sickness?
Where is the flame that burned so bright?

A grave for every hope that died.
A name for each star that fell.
Only tragedy begets greatness,
And this world runs deep with despair.
But there are none with whom to suffer it;
Only these monuments remain,
And I, bearing the weight of eternity.
