Oberlausitz geliebtes Heimatland Lyrics Übersetzung

"Upper Lusatia, beloved homeland"
(so-called Upper Lusatia song)

Where the Neisse silver ribbon is wrapped
around the green wreath of the mountains,
where the Jeschken waves from the blue distance
in the evening sun;
Where the mountain forest roars on the Lausche slope,
where the high forest rises in salute ,
where the evening wind
complains like lost song about dilapidated walls.

Where at home an excellent man,
rough of the kind, but as loyal as gold,
who loves homeland,
pays awe to the last day of old custom;
Where
hard labor breathes from a hundred chimneys to the sky ,
where the
farmer happily smokes a pipe outside his door after the day's run .

If your heart often goes abroad, to
another beach,
it is only the weary sense of peace in your
home country!
Their mountains of green, their valleys of lust,
their fields of gold ear,
oh, he has no heart in his chest who
does not want to love his homeland!

Upper Lusatia, beloved homeland,
Happiness and wealth are you to me!
Even if it were so beautiful, so beautiful in a foreign country,
my heart always belongs only to you!
Upper Lusatia, beloved homeland,
luck and fortune are you to me!
Even if it were so beautiful, so beautiful in a foreign country,
my heart always belongs only to you!

The song was written by Kurt Piehler (1893-1958) in 1929. As a local poet and composer, Piehler wrote many dialect songs and poems.
