The Thorn Songtext
The thorn is not a gentle tree
It scratches and it stings
But it protects the little birds
Shows flowers in the spring
It shelters small and helpless things
Borders all our fields
And when it comes to summer′s end
It bows its head and yields
The thorn is in or by your side
Whichever way you turn
And even in the firelight
It's body slowly burns
The fruit it bears is bitter but
Can cure your aching heart
Just don′t fall too fast into its arms
Or you'll be torn apart
The thorn is not a gentle tree
It scratches and it stings
But it protects the little birds
Shows flowers in the spring
It shelters small and helpless things
Borders all our fields
And when it comes to summer′s end
It bows its head and yields
The thorn is in or by your side
Whichever way you turn
And even in the firelight
It's body slowly burns
The fruit it bears is bitter but
Can cure your aching heart
Just don′t fall too fast into its arms
Or you'll be torn apart
The thorn is not a gentle tree
