Murder of Crows Songtext

Murder of Crows Songtext

Golden hair all down her breast, mischief in her eye.
Oh, I never knew the thief in me 'till I took what was not mine.
Gave into tempatation, though I knew it was not right,
When I took her from her wedding bed in the dead of night.
For tonight we ride out west

And I got one crow flyin' o'er that old church yard grave.
I got two crows circlin' low, cacklin' out my name.
I got three crows black as coal, my soul's on the line
With a murder of crows on my mind.

Once we crossed that river, oh the money and the drink ran dry.
She started talk of goin' home for to see her little child.
But now I had a taste for gold, found the bank instead
And I left that town a richer man and I left that sheriff dead.
For tonight we ride out West.

And I got one crow flyin' o'er that old church yard grave.
I got two crows circlin' low, cacklin' out my name.
I got three crows black as coal, my soul's on the line
With a murder of crows on my mind.

First one is the hardest, and then you're cold.
One sin leads to another, 'till you're just colectin' crows.
Happy as a rain cloud they block the sun, yeah.
Can't tell one from another, you can't pick 'em off
One by one.

Well she swore that she would stay with me.
Oh, I had my doubts,
'Cause she always eyed that .45, hangin' on my belt.
And I grew to hate her company, and just the sight of her,
So I took her into my arms until she breathed no more.
And I ride out West.

'Cause I got one crow flyin' o'er that old church yard grave.
I got two crows circlin' low, cacklin' out my name.
I got three crows black as coal, my soul's on the line
With a murder of crows on my mind.
