Set Me Free Songtext
von Esther Phillips

Set Me Free Songtext

I was out having a dinner with a couple of friends of mine in the other day
And when we finished eaten, I walked outside to get a little fresh air
The place was a little hot to smoking
And I was a look lonesome
And I walked back inside, I could′ve see in theirs face there's was a terrible arguement going on
And I′ve heard he saying to her in a soft voice:
Why don't you just, you know... Why don't you set me free?

If you think you′ve had enough
If you think our life′s been rough
Why not take your loveline off of me,
And set me free?

If you think our love's all wrong
And you feel the fire is gone
If I′m not, if I'm not what you′d like for me to be
Come on and set me free

(Then I heard him saying)

Set me free and let me fly
Like a bluebird flying high
Release the chains that bind
You and me (you and me)
And set me free

And as I still then and listen to them argue
I said, I didn't know what′s going on between two of them
Because they've seem to be so happy
And I thought to myself
I hope this will never happens to my love affair
Because I don't think I could stand to hear my baby saying to me,
"Baby, set me free, hey baby, set me free, huh?"

Set me free and let me fly
Like a bluebird flying high
Release the chains that bind
You and me (you and me)
Hey baby, set me free
(Set me free, set me free)

Set me free and let me fly
I wanna fly like a bluebird flying high
Release the chains that bind
You and me (you and me)
Come on set me free
(Set me free)

Set me free and let me fly
