THE HOUSES OF THE DAMNED. Songtext

It was a misty morning in that german town,
As we, apprehensive and concerned,
Haltingly approached the Houses Of The Damned -
Monuments I felt should stand,
That we might learn.

And so we trod the footsteps of those countless thousands,
Who had had no choice and could not turn,
From that perverted portal,
Where work set them free,
And from where, sickeningly,
So few souls would return.
For here the carcasses burned,
While a population observed.

Or do we still believe,
That they saw nothing,
That they heard nothing -
Asked no questions,
Maintained a deafening silence?

As through those neat little towns
They were herded -
Die "Untermenschen," marched to their graves.
But if you and I had been there to observe it,
Realistically, how many do you think we would have saved?
Saved...?
Saved...?

Now on this summer′s evening,
In this english town,
Such unforgiveable truths could be unlearned.
It could be we who fill new
Houses Of The Damned -
They surely must stand,
So those dark days can never return.
Can never return.
Rememember, they saw nothing,
And they heard nothing -
Asked no questions -
Maintained a deafening silence.
If we read nothing -
If we say nothing -
Ask no questions -
Maintain a - ssshhhhh...
