Victim of Life's Circumstances Songtext

It was 6:05 a.m. on Sunday mornin′
I was supposed to leave for Austin Lake last night
But I stopped in one of them old roadhouse places
And because of that I'll sleep in Dallas County Jail tonight

It all started out tonight with good intentions
Then I wound up gettin′ sideways drinkin' the old wine
And the last thing I remember we was rollin'
Then someone hit my head and knocked me from my conscious mind

Just a victim of life′s circumstances
I was raised ′round barrooms, Friday night dances
Singin' them old country songs
Half the time endin′ up someplace I don't belong

"Well, jailer, hey, what y′all got me charged with?"
Well, he looked at me and he kinda winked his eye
Said, "You mean to say that son you can't remember
Cuttin′ up some honky with your bone-handled knife?"

Just a victim of life's circumstances
I was raised 'round barrooms, Friday night dances
Singin′ them old country songs
Half the time endin′ up someplace I don't belong

Half the time endin′ up some place I don't belong
