I was holding my saddle as the moon rose in the sky
We will answer the call for aid and we ride out tonight
Some say it isn′t our fight and I myself have a wife and son at home
For what business has my blade
With the beasts at the white city's gates

But I will ride to ruin
Death calls and I shake my spear
In its grinning face
I will ride on to world′s end
Even if it means that I'll never see you again

But who will answer our own call
Once all are gone and we stand alone
Shall I die then at my own hearth
With my son in my arms
Though it pierces my heart to say
I must fight and die far away
I pray the axe won't fall
So we must heed the call

As the black host stretches endlessly before us
I feel my spear grip loosen, along with my resolve
I think of the stretching plains of home

I think then of our boy
Would that I could see him mount a steed himself

He'll understand why I make my last charge
