Aniara Songtext

Aniara Songtext
Well, Grandpa had a sailing boat
And he called it Aniara
Told Grandma she could come aboard
She was wearing a tiara
He sailed her out into the sea
Past the islands of St. Anna
Where pine and stone saluted her
Beneath the starry banner
Dark is the night
And bright are the lights
And softly the Aniara glides
Through January skies
And he said, "Look, those stars make out
The constellation of the Lyra
In time we all line up like that
Like birds along a wire"
And Granny saw us hanging there
In a black and endless water
All poetry and birthday cakes
And a sense of freedom caught her
While Grandpa set another sail
Upon the Aniara
Tears were falling down her face
Water and mascara
I have a lot of her in me
I think as I get older
I have a lot of her in me
But I guess I should have told her
Dark is the night
And bright are the lights
And softly the Aniara glides
Through January skies
Through January skies
And he called it Aniara
Told Grandma she could come aboard
She was wearing a tiara
He sailed her out into the sea
Past the islands of St. Anna
Where pine and stone saluted her
Beneath the starry banner
Dark is the night
And bright are the lights
And softly the Aniara glides
Through January skies
And he said, "Look, those stars make out
The constellation of the Lyra
In time we all line up like that
Like birds along a wire"
And Granny saw us hanging there
In a black and endless water
All poetry and birthday cakes
And a sense of freedom caught her
While Grandpa set another sail
Upon the Aniara
Tears were falling down her face
Water and mascara
I have a lot of her in me
I think as I get older
I have a lot of her in me
But I guess I should have told her
Dark is the night
And bright are the lights
And softly the Aniara glides
Through January skies
Through January skies
