Winter Solstice. Deepest dark
The sword that pierced the old king′s heart
Under the earth for three cold days
The sky wept ice where the sun-god lay
In stillness and in snow uncrowned
Seeds of the feast in the frozen ground
Fall like jewels. In summer rain
His golden light will live again
