Jessie Lee Songtext

The sun was almost going down
Casting shadows on my wall
Of a girl I met that afternoon
At a July festival.
"There is another man," she said.
His name it did ring true.
"Great grandson of the famous Lee
Is who I′m married to."
She whispered to me through the night,
"My name is Jessie Lee.
The man whose surname that I bear
I fear his jealousy."
The sun began to rise again,
She said, "I must be gone."
But still I hear her soft voice say,
"You know we must be strong"
So she left me with myself in bed
And thoughts of what would be.
And will I ever see again
My wonder Jessie Lee?

She whispered to me through the night,
"My name is Jessie Lee.
The man whose surname that I bear,
I fear his jealousy."
(Guitar and organ solo)
Oh, my Jessie Lee!
(Guitar and organ solo)
She whispered to me through the night,
"My name is Jessie Lee.
The man whose surname that I bear,
I fear his jealousy."
So she left me with myself in bed
And thoughts of what would be.
Will I ever see again
My wonder Jessie Lee?
Will I ever see again
My wonder Jessie Lee?
My wonder Jessie Lee.
Oh, my Jesse Lee!
(Organ solo)
Oh, my Jesse Lee!
(Organ and electric piano solo)
