Three Cars Songtext

Three Cars Songtext
Three beautiful cars parked side by side in his drive
Number plates with his name
And he′s running on empty all the same
He is working so hard that when he's home
He cannot really hear what his children say
He can′t see his own wife's face
Did he sell his soul so he could buy it back
Somewhere down the track?
How could he delude himself that it works like that?
Did he see a hole, some empty space
And fill it up with cash?
Poor him, I guess
Woe them, oh yes, oh yes
My sweet Corolla when it failed and they towed it away
I took a few last photos and watched it fade
It carried me places and kept me alive
And I sighed as he raced down that
Dappled summer evening deathtrap drive
Not more to life than what we own
But never have I seen such a cliché
'Til I saw how the more he had
The more he seemed alone, alone
