July Songtext

You held the umbrella
Outside my house
Our friends were inside
Just shouting about
You said you′d been waiting
Such a long, long time
To do something like that
Are you satisfied?
Should've known this tale I built up
Was far too good to be true
We were a fiction
Now I′m glad I shut the book on top of you
I won't write anymore pages
I think I'd rather let them burn
When did my mind start playing tricks on me?
God, will I ever learn?

We sat in my car
In the setting sun
You looked into my eyes
And said I need to move on
I thought you′d see it
And understand my brain
Well I guess I was wrong
I must′ve been insane
Ahh
Should've known this picture I built up
Was far too perfect to be true
We were a painting now I′m glad I destroyed the canvas of you
I can't paint anymore pictures
I think I′d rather leave them be
Now I spend all of my life wishing it was her instead of me
Instead of me
Instead of me
