Soho Jack Songtext
von Paul Brett

Lonely eyes lookin′ around
Won't you tell me what you see
I′ve seen so many changes
Things ain't what they used to be
Playin' the blues for a pair of shoes
And I′m singing in the street
The people I knew ain′t the people I know
Ain't the people I used to meet

Soho Jack, Soho Jack
I hear he′s leavin' town
Sick of all the vagrancy laws
And bein′ pushed around
He's headin′ for the West Country
With his duffel and his old guitar
And as he leaves he's wondering
Where the people are that used to be

London town is falling down
The folk scenes disappeared
There was no place that he could go
And the disco bars were weird
Look at all those Bowery boys
With different shades of eyes
We cannot know what life's about
We haven′t even tried

Soho Jack, Soho Jack
I hear he′s leavin' town
Sick of all the vagrancy laws
And bein′ pushed around
He's headin′ for the West Country
With his duffel and his old guitar
And as he leaves he's wondering
Where the people are that used to be

And now he′s down in Basel
With his back against the grind
Playin' to the fishermen
And laughing all the time
The seagulls flying overhead
Are joining in his song
They'll have to throw me in the sea
If they want to move me on

Soho Jack, Soho Jack
I hear he′s leavin′ town
Sick of all the vagrancy laws
And bein' pushed around
He′s headin' for the West Country
With his duffel and his old guitar
And as he leaves he′s wondering
Where the people are that used to be

Uh huh huh, uh huh huh
He's leavin′ town and he's never comin' back

Uh huh huh, uh huh huh
He′s leavin′ town and he's never comin′ back
Uh huh huh, uh huh huh
He's leavin′ town and he's never comin′ back
Uh huh huh, uh huh huh
He's leavin' town and he′s never comin′ back
Uh huh huh, uh huh huh
He's leavin′ town and he's never comin′ back
Uh huh huh, uh huh huh
He's leavin′ town and he's never comin' back
