Wanderlust Songtext

Wanderlust Songtext

Every year in December, since I was a boy
Wanderlust tears at my roots
Top a hill, by a river, under a tree
Flights of fancy would carry me
But the weather was changing, the rain beating down
And the fire you lit warmed my bones
So on the road that I should have walked
Dust never rose

Every year I remember, still just a boy
Trading my dreams for a plan
On a plane, or a steamboat, far ′cross the sea
I had promised myself I would be
Though the weather was raging, the rain beating down
And the shelter you built kept me dry
Oh, the road that I should have walked
Calling me now

The price to be paid for decisions I made
Is a thousand sleepless nights
Walking around old London town
Was I ever truly happy?

Now the years ran before me, I'm not a boy
Wanderlust tore out my roots
Top the hill, by the river I used to dream
But I see now, it′s just a stream
And the weather keeps raging, the rain beating down
As I ache for a fire I knew
Oh, the road that I should have walked
Dusty and cold

The price to be paid for decisions I made
Is a thousand sleepless nights
Walking around old London town
Was I ever truly happy?
