I saw the devil at the end of the road
On a night you were drunk driving us home
He looked something like a telephone pole
I just couldn′t wrap my head around
He told me to keep my head down

If I recall any emotion at all
I guess I felt tired then

And I always wanted to watch you fall
But somehow you made it out unscathed
If the world really had it out for you
You should have caved


You cut off a cop while you were falling asleep
He drove away after he looked at me
Yeah he let you off easy
You thought you were lucky then

But I saw your face thru blurry eyes
For what felt like the millionth time
When I think about wanting to die
I still see you there
Cursing how life's not fair

And not that you really care
But somehow I made it out OK
If I really had it out for you
I would have caved, caved
