Been in the Storm Songtext

Been in the storm so long my dear I′ve forgotten of the sun,
Trees and land are distant things and so with heaving lungs,
I tilt and shake as one more breaks, and shakes its tail upon me,
And in the blackness rise and fall and call your name to the sea.
I'm coming over the depths of blue and black and green, and sinking
Is the happiness I hold, I think I′ll take to drinking;
And as to rocking sleep does lead, I dream of your fine dancing,
Upon the earth of soil and dirt to which I am advancing.
Been in the storm so long my love, the memory of your face
Twists and folds as the sea roles, but another won't replace,
It shines aloud, alike the light that green across the harbour glows,
I'll hold it close against my heart with dread for the dark that lurks below.
But I am coming home my love, I am coming home,
Home to where my heart belongs like songs which swell and grow.
But if I find you′ve found another bed to lay your body in,
I′ll kill you both and back I'll go over the endless roles of sea.
