Green Cheese Songtext
von Merle Travis

You told me that the moon was just a big balloon
Full of honey from the heavenly bees
But I found out, baby
That moon ain′t nothing but old green cheese

You promised me the moon, you promised me the sun
You promised me a hug and a squeeze
But what did I get, baby?
Nothing but old green cheese

Every night when the sky is speckled
And freckled by the stars above
Every lover in the light of luna
Wants to croon a little tune of love

They call it heaven's light, the master of the night
Well, you can call it anything that you please
But ever since you left me, baby
That moon ain′t nothing but old green cheese

Every night when the sky is speckled
And freckled by the stars above
Every lover in the light of luna
Wants to croon a little tune of love

They call it heaven's light, the master of the night
Well, you can call it anything that you please
But ever since you left me, baby
That moon ain't nothing but old green cheese

I′m a man, honey, not a mouse
Nothing but old green cheese
