The lows take control it just happens

A young brother never care enough
His older bros numbed his heart they was playin' too much
Rejecting all his thoughts and shootin′ down his dreams
Of ever seeing college and playing on a team
He turned cold, like water in an ice tray
Over time he froze to seeing good days
Now in school acting up teachers got upset
They saw the light get dim and tried to redirect
But it's hard cause the peoples in his fam
They never payed attention he was feeling like a scam
A joke with no hope of being better
Than his pops who left them with no cheddar
But his moms preached Keep Ya Head Up
Those words help her too when she′s "fed up"
Now internal he was feeling all typa ways
Thoughts fightin' each other he took it day by day
Grew aware of his actions N made a major change
He loved bros but he vowed to not to be the same
No longer in the game, youngin′ took control
Got a job and in school he graduated with the honor roll
Told his mama that he loved her each n every day
And how he's thankful for the words that she use to say
Can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink

Fightin different ways or options that I could take
To get on my feet N eat, make my own plate
The same struggle tho, a youngin′ who knows everything

I was lucky cause I had folks there me
If I didn′t then I could've been a casualty
Torn up, ate up, and spit out by life

Now I′m back in my ways like dancing in the crowd

It's Perception a key to this life
