Avenue A Songtext
von King Django Quintet

Out on Avenue A with a private stock .40 in hand
Coppin′ thirty dollar quarters from the dreadlocks man
The mods were doin' somethin′ in the back of the van
That's when it was really goin' down

That′s when it was really
Back then it was really
Back when it was really goin′ down
Back then it was really
Back when it was really
Back then it was really goin' down

Black, white and Asian skinheads out in the streets
Smokin′ spliffs and English cigarettes with coke
Checkin' out the mini-skirts on the bob-cut flirts
That′s when it was really goin' down

That′s when it was really
Back then it was really
Back when it was really goin' down
Back then it was really
Back when it was really
Back then it was really goin' down

Prince Buster blarin′ from the boombox on the roof of the car
Bob Marley, The Clash, The Jam and The Specials
Only cross Avenue B just to cop some D
Only into the park to pee

That′s when it was really
Back then it was really
Back when it was really goin' down
That′s when it was really
Back then it was really
Back when it was really goin' down
That′s when it was really
Back then it was really
Back when it was really goin' down
