People Are Not Disposable Songtext

I′m just sitting writing letters to myself
But I haven't yet divined the reason why
Ruminating on the currency while hoarding all the wealth
As I′m patiently awaiting your reply

The object of regret and yet life goes on,
I have been remiss to exist so long,
Every breath a personal insult.
"I think therefore I am" doesn't carry much weight,
I am just surprised I've survived of late.
How can you see the same things so differently?

I just wanted to believe
That I could see it in your eyes
I′m just so tired and lonely
Do you wanna know me?
And I′m not trying to deceive
In a fatuous disguise
My mask is slipping but I'm fine
What′s yours is mine

Burned alive.
Burned alive.
How can I still burn in a vacuum?

Apostatic adulation
Coabet expostulation
More abstract yet more defined
More desperate more intertwined
I scratch the skin until it peels
The dogs are snapping at my heels
I have no other card to show
Yet round and round and round we go again.

People are not disposable.
I just wanted to believe
That I could see it in your eyes
I'm just so tired and lonely
Do you wanna know me?
And I′m not trying to deceive
In a fatuous disguise
My mask is slipping but I'm fine
What′s yours is mine

There's a feeling that I get when I'm feeling fine,
That there′s a veil and a chalk outline.
And I check my pulse to see if it′s mine.
I scratch the skin until it peels
The dogs are barking at my heels
I'm realising far too slow
We had no other place to go
You disposed of me
Because I disposed of you.

People are not disposable.
I could see it in your eyes
What′s yours is mine
