Faith That Works Songtext
What up, Jason, man?
Me and Danny B was breaking a little bread earlier
Seems he′s confused about
James saying faith without works was dead
In contrast to what Paul is saying
I just wanted to know if you could clear it all up for him
Don't help him to understand
How those two scriptures don′t contradict one another
Grab your Bibles, slip with me to the book of James
Don't get shook, pay attention if you look this plain
Paul and James are not the contradictory
Actually, they all complement, well, look and see
First, we'll just read what James said
"James 2 and 20, faith without works is dead"
Well, Paul said we′re saved by faith alone grace alone
All because Christ atoned, well, that′s true
But hold on, man, I know how it's seen mean
And what you′re thinking
But let's see what they′re meaning
Abraham was justified by his works when he offered
Isaac, his only son, up upon the altar
You see how his faith and his works are connected
And by his works his faith was then perfected
Okay, I get it now, what he's saying is so true
If we have faith in works, they must be produce
Body without the spirit, it is dead
We all know so faith without the works must be dead also
We must, walk with right and righteousness
′Cause we serve, a holy God, our life is His
Though we know, we're saved by faith and grace alone
Yeah, we must, perform His work, and it must be shown
Yeah, we must, walk upright in righteousness
'Cause we serve, the holy God, our life is His
Come on, flip back to Romans chapter 3
We got James standpoint, let′s see what Paul′s could be
It dawned on me, when I read, 20's world will begin
We′re close to the end, the law is the knowledge of sin
Sin was created, so that it can show God's standard
Man can measure up to his goal to stand
He planned it so we see, we should be condemned by the law
No way to be righteous
We already sinned from the start, so what does that leave us?
I′m stuck in the wind, 'cause once you′re imperfect
Your works can't make you perfect again
So what Paul is trying to say is that we all need Jesus
That faith lies on him that's why we′re called believers
Ideal fact, freely by only his grace
And redeemed through Christ Jesus who stood in our place
See our works, only come by faith
Submittance and works follow our faith
When we have true repentance forgiveness only given
Because of the life, which was the word made flesh
Which we know it was Christ′s, man is tight
To know it's not kind of confusion
See, if you seek his face you′ll get the solution
Hold up, but true faith is the lord the envoy
Certainly not the law is fulfilled not destroyed
And we must, walk up right in righteousness
'Cause we serve, a holy God, our life is His
Though we know, we′re saved by faith and grace alone
Yeah we must, perform His work, and it must be shown
Yeah we must, walk up right in righteousness
'Cause we serve, a holy God, our life is His
We must, walk up right in righteousness
′Cause we serve, a holy God, our life is His
