Rising Up Songtext
von Jonathan Jeremiah

Rising Up Songtext

In these days scraping by
You can see the sorrows in the hollows of their eyes
In the hollows of our aged and youth
Rising up is the only thing you can do

I was born in these streets
Rust lap bang in the middle of five
In a shoebox room just my brother and I
When you′re faced with the obstacles of youth
Rising up is the only thing you can do

In those days I stuttered at school
I worked hard 'cause there wasn′t no option to
They got me down, left me bruised
Rising up is the only thing you can do

I would sit on the walls and I lick my wounds
Just thinking nothing will come of you
But I learned to use it as fuel
Rising up is the only thing you can do

When I sit on a train and I read the news
They're closing doors to the wards, the gates of the schools
'Cause it′s in the hands of the privileged few
Rising up is the only thing you can do

When I′m old, when I'm old, well I hope they realise
Apathy is the poison of our times
Until then I′ll just keep playing my tunes
Rising up is the only thing you can do
