Ain't Funny Songtext
von Johnny Warman

Ain't Funny Songtext

Started today in the usual way
It used to be really funny
Going to school, it was really a drag
′Cause we never had any money
We'll get a job and we′ll make a few bob
And retire very early
But it was a dream, strange as it seems
We joined the early thirty

What are your qualifications?
Nothing, mate, just a body
What are your expectations?
Hundred a week would keep me going
What are you taking me for?
Now they're closing the door

Oh, it ain't funny
Oh, it ain′t funny

Sitting alone and feeling real low
Watching Kojak on the telly
Then there′s this guy with a look in his eye
Hunger in his belly
He takes a gun, points it at mum
And demands to have his money
Gets on the wedge, kills him and yet
Still looks kind of funny

What are your qualifications?
Would you argue with a gun?
What are your expectations?
Life is ripe for murder and
Wonder if I could do it
Have I got the nerve?

Oh, it ain't funny
Oh, it ain′t funny

There's a store opened on the first floor
The first class imitations
Rich from the sky, I can see in their eyes
I must be very patient
Just looking cool and not be a fool
I really mustn′t blow it
'Cause if I get done, I′ll be the number one
The clockwork money bandit

What are your qualifications?
Trying to get some cash
What are your expectations?
Seven years on the lash
What are you taking me for?
Now they're closing the cell door

Oh, it ain't funny
Oh, it ain′t funny
Oh, it ain′t funny
Oh, it ain't funny

Oh, it ain′t funny
Oh, it ain't funny
