Violence Songtext
Violence is usually the arm of the impotent
We focus all too much on the subjective violence
By subjective violence, I mean violence which is
Not just anonymous, like an objective social process
But where you have a clear subject who did it
This kind of violence is what we read in the media all the time
But what interests me is violence which is invisible, systemic
Which goes on but we don′t even notice it as violence because what
We notice as violence is a disturbance to the established order
But my question is, what about violence which has
To go on not so that the normal run of the things
Is disturbed, but so that things go on like normal
Our next ethical step is to learn to accept to
Be responsible, even for this objective violence We cannot say, "Sorry, it's objective, what can I do?"
In a way, we are responsible
Responsible
The thing to do is to get the whole picture, as a rule
Subjective violence is a response to objective violence
We live in an era where violence is the big taboo
What fascinated me is how this much higher sensitivity to these
Forms of subjective intrusion, violence, goes hand in hand with much
More brutal forms of objective violence, or even social violence
The paradox is that this extreme sensitivity to subjective
Violence is a very dangerous ideological phenomenon
Something which goes hand in hand with social violence
In a way, we are responsible
We focus all too much on the subjective violence
By subjective violence, I mean violence which is
Not just anonymous, like an objective social process
But where you have a clear subject who did it
This kind of violence is what we read in the media all the time
