Rolling Thunder Songtext

A worried man I stand alone
Outside my farm and family home
And there I raised my bloodshot eyes
And gazed up at a parchment sky
My handiwork had turned to dust
So all my faith in God I thrust
And to the sky the worried man is cryin′
And he said
Lord I'm prayin′ for that rollin' thunder
Lord I'm under a mountain of sin
Lord I′m prayin′ for that rollin' thunder
And I wonder could you hear my land
Winters burned the land so hard
Majestic fields of wheat lay charred
Through this desert camouflage
To me appeared a cruel god
I′ve water from my mountain spring
Put an end to all my suffering
No mercy and no favor earned
My cattle culled and my bushes burned
Lord I'm prayin′ for that rollin' thunder
Lord I′m under a mountain of sin
Lord I'm prayin' for that rollin′ thunder
And I wonder could you hear my land
If Christ demands a sacrifice
Tell me what′s his asking price
To this land I pledge my life
But aid him with his killing knife
He's come to claim this prairie son
In the heartland of Saskatchewan
Upon my river who live alone dies for tryin′
Lord I'm prayin′ for that rollin' thunder
Lord I′m under a mountain of sin
Lord I'm prayin' for that rollin′ thunder
And I wonder could you hear my land
