Jill's Songtext

Jill's Songtext
Daylight creeps under your door
You don′t want this, you just want more
Just a brief refrain from strife
So lay down your head and dream awhile
Who can say the weight we bear?
And if we knew, why would we care?
I'll lift yours if you′ll lift mine
So what if we falter, what if we fail?
Like drunken surgeons and paper ships that sail
On troubled waters
They don't know we're kings and queens
Of mundane magic and sundry things
We built their daydreams while they slept
And we′ll keep on building, they haven′t woken up yet
If I quit and I stand still
Will silence squeeze me and slowly kill?
But chronic passion I fight to maintain
I've got more thoughts than money, more ideas than sense
And the dreams inside me cannot be suppressed
If I were wise I′d gift you a truth
If I were rich we'd all drink fine booze
If I were gentle I′d make your bed
I'm a poet on a good day, a pauper on the bad
I′m hardly human, I'm a monster when I'm mad
The joys that sustain me are tearing me apart
And I know that I′m not finished ′cause I don't know where to start
Daylight creeps under your door
You can have this and still want more
Just a brief refrain from strife
So lift up your head and dream awhile
Daylight slips into your room
So open your eyes, open your eyes
Open your eyes and dream awhile
You don′t want this, you just want more
Just a brief refrain from strife
So lay down your head and dream awhile
Who can say the weight we bear?
And if we knew, why would we care?
I'll lift yours if you′ll lift mine
So what if we falter, what if we fail?
Like drunken surgeons and paper ships that sail
On troubled waters
They don't know we're kings and queens
Of mundane magic and sundry things
We built their daydreams while they slept
And we′ll keep on building, they haven′t woken up yet
If I quit and I stand still
Will silence squeeze me and slowly kill?
But chronic passion I fight to maintain
I've got more thoughts than money, more ideas than sense
And the dreams inside me cannot be suppressed
If I were wise I′d gift you a truth
If I were rich we'd all drink fine booze
If I were gentle I′d make your bed

Open your eyes and dream awhile
