Higher Ground Songtext
von Gloria Loring

I have fed the hunger and I have scaled some walls
And I′ve witnessed how persistently the distant thunder calls
But I am anxious for the future, the myths that hold us now
Shouldn't we move to higher ground?

Well, I′m moving up to higher ground
Moving up to higher ground
Maybe you will join me and we'll turn some hearts around
When we move, we move on up to higher ground

The time is coming to move away from blame
To look beyond the faces, to see beyond the names
And once that highway's got you and the greater truth is found
You keep moving up to higher ground

Well, I′m moving up to higher ground
Moving up to higher ground
Maybe you will join me and we′ll turn some hearts around
When we move, we move on up to higher ground

Whatever will be lost, well, it's worth the letting go
And the treasure to be gained in time we′ll know, we'll know
Like a river running to its destination
The power is pulling us for a transformation
What we thought was first will now be last
What we thought was our future will now be our past
Love will lift us up where we should be
We gotta be the change we want to see

Maybe you will join me and we′ll turn some hearts around
When we move, we move on up to higher ground

We got to be the change we want to see
Oh, won't you join me?
