Don’t You Worry About That Songtext

Don’t You Worry About That Songtext
Here in Australia we′re still doing fine
At least we are most of the time
Birds still sing and the sun still shines
Down on the lucky country
Most Australian families own a car, a house and a colour TV
God bless the finance companies for giving us the money
Though one day we'll have to pay it back
But don′t you worry about that
Here in Australia we're still okay
Though the damned recession won't go away
There′s a million out of work they say
And the queues keep getting longer
It′s the kids who suffer most of all
Go straight from school on to the dole
But at least inflation's under control
Good news for overseas bankers
Our children′s future's looking black
But don′t you worry about that
I'm a stranger here
I′m a stranger here
This used to be my home
Now I'm a stranger here
Here in Australia we're independent types
Trying to get our priorities right
So we′re going to hold a plebiscite
To change our country′s flag
Goodbye Union Jack, your time has come
Though the new flag won't please everyone
Shows a Southern Cross set against a rising sun
That′s bound to get old Bruce's rag
Going one way down the wrong track
But don′t you worry about that
Here in Australia we're still true blue
We love our footy and our barbecue
Love our koalas and our kangaroos
Though we′re sometimes forced to shoot 'em
We eat New Zealand lamb, wear Korean clothes
Play overseas crap on our radios
Drive Japanese cars, watch American TV shows
But we're still proudly Australian
You can′t find Australia on the map
But don′t you worry about that
I'm a stranger here
I′m a stranger here
This used to be my home
Now I'm a stranger here
Here in Australia we′re a lucky mob
Though there's little cash around and fewer jobs
But at least unlike some places abroad
We don′t have war or unrest
But we do have homeless on the street
And junkies who steal the shoes from your feet
And politicians full of bull dust and deceit
That's the price of progress
They're turning our country into crap
But don′t you worry about that
I′m a stranger here
I'm a stranger here
This used to be my home
Now I′m a stranger here
This used to be my home
Now I'm a stranger here
At least we are most of the time
Birds still sing and the sun still shines
