Morning

I didn′t see it coming
No sound, no sudden change
Just a softer kind of silence
Settling in its place

The window's barely open
Cold air across my skin
I′m standing where the night was
And noticing, I'm still here

Nothing to fix
Nothing to say

There's a light
Through the window
Falling slow across the room

It doesn′t rush me
Doesn′t ask me
To become someone new


The room is still familiar
The walls haven't moved
But something in the quiet
Feels a little less consumed

My phone is lying face down
No name I need to see
For once I′m not reaching
For something that won't reach me

No voice to chase
No weight to prove

There′s a light
Through the window
Soft enough to let me breathe

It doesn't need me
To be stronger
It just stays here with me

Maybe this is how it starts
Not a spark, not a flame
Just a slow return
To a quieter name
