Shelly's Song Songtext
von Dave Harding

I′ve seen some good things
As I drive around this town
And I've seen some people
Who like to put you down
Rich folk who don′t give a crap
Except for their own little slice
They'll steal a drink from a blind man
Just to suck on the ice
Just to suck on the ice

I saw you down on Union Street
With your heart in your right hand
Begging for some mercy
From the men who run this land
From the men who run this land
From the men who run this land

That's the way
That′s the way it goes
That′s the way
That's the way
That′s the way it goes

The kindness of strangers
Will really turn you around
They give of their souls
Till they're heaven bound
They laugh like little children
They are so pure and benign
Like the sunlight appearing
At the dawning of time
At the dawning of time
At the dawning of time

That′s the way
That's the way it goes
That′s the way
That's the way
That's the way it goes

We come and we go
We come and we go
We come and we go

Oh

I hope that you are ready
To show what you have got
′Cause the time is growing shorter
To give it your best shot

Shelly came on to my room
Her smile was her best friend
And though the odds were stacked against her
She′s staying faithful to the end
She's staying faithful to the end
She′s staying faithful to the end
She's staying faithful to the end
She′s staying faithful to the end

That's the way
That′s the way it goes
That's the way
That's the way
That′s the way it goes

We come and we go
We come and we go
We come and we go

Oh
