Laying Low (Commentary) Songtext

This is Big Machine Radio
I am Becca
So thrilled to be talking to Danielle Bradbury about her new album, I Don′t Believe We've Met
It′s finally here and we are celebrating today with Danielle Bradbury
And before we played that song
I kind of confessed to you that I almost had a bit of an emotional breakdown while you were singing it
And I wonder, have you ever gotten so caught up in one of your songs
That you get emotional when you sing it?

Um, yeah, and Human Diary is one of them
I mean, I did the showcase at WME
And the writers of that song, Emily Weisman and Josh Kerr, were there
And I think talking about it and just knowing that they wrote it
And they were in the room was just a very special moment (yeah)
And I wanted to start getting emotional
I'm like, don't cry, don′t cry, don′t cry, because I won't be able to sing
(I feel like baseball kittens) yes, baseball kittens
(Definitely made me happy) yeah, so uhm

Well, you know, I cannot believe that we have come to the last song
And I love this song because I feel like
This is something that every once in a while we all have just got to do
Sort of unplug, turn down the noise of the world
So tell me about writing Laying Low

It was kind of one of those writes where, I mean, we just had conversations about everything
And the other girl in the write, we just had this mutual agreement about
Just we′ve been in a funk lately where friends ask us to go hang out
We're like, honestly, I′d rather be at home in my own comfy clothes and watch a movie
Either have a glass of wine or have a box of chocolates or whatever it is
(Or all of it) or all of it
Watch a movie and just relax and just have time, me time
And sometimes you go so fast, whether you're working constantly or anything
You′re just going so fast, you get too far ahead of yourself
And then you get too stressed out and everything
And so me time is definitely, I recommend

Yeah
Well, and I think, too, the world just gets overwhelming (it does)
It's like you look at your phone and there's all these notices
And you′ve got 14 voicemails and 57 emails and you know it′s just Instagram messages
And you're like, oh my gosh, it′s just too much
Sometimes it stresses me out just to look at my phone

Yeah, same here
So, yeah, put the phone down and just be comfy and have your me time

Well, I got to tell you, the line that just killed me in this song is in the first verse
Where you're talking about getting an old record out
And it says, "Drink every word like a bottle of wine ′til my soul's so drunk it′s passed out on the floor"
What a line (it's deep)

And that's basically saying, I mean, your soul and everything
You′re so stressed and overwhelmed and you just need it to pass out for a second
Take a break

I think this is, it′s almost such a great ending point for this album
Because you've taken us kind of on a rollercoaster of emotions
And so now it′s like, all right, we're just going to kind of chill and relax
It′s like a workout class
You start with all the crazy songs and then you have your chill song at the end
(This is the cool down) this is the cool down

I love it
Well, it is called Laying Low from Danielle Bradbury's I Don′t Believe We've Met album
And it's on Big Machine Radio
