EARLY Songtext

Genesis

An ode to home
Radford, Cinderhill, Mansfield Road
Whitemore, Greensmill
Red bricks, grey cobblestones
(Genesis)
Early birds work the earth
From Stoney Street to Barclay Gate
(It was the worst of times)
Notts City soil
(It was the best of times)
Industrious magpies toil
(Begin)

I woke up and hit my shoe box
Snatching up them Forces in the purple navy blue blocks
Champ hood, pulling cords
I′m making plans to hit them two spots
Waking from a dream to make this money scheme my new clutch
Leaving from my toothbrush
To a break of day new routine
Alchemizing passages
From lead inside these pages
To katana blades and precious metals
Forming solid bars of fresh air
Climbing high
By standing on the shoulders of giants
Who once were known as Davids

Deep in this human race
I'm moving to that crack of dawn concerto
Frozen earths and empty pavements
That are sounding like some promises and statements made a while back
I′m tryna live for more than just nostalgia
Finding solace in them rules I've come to know as law
That nature takes its course
And never a truer word was spoken
So I'm grasping at these moments graced upon me
′Til my earthenware possessions and learned lessons are taken from me
Tryna live my life like I′m Balboa Goggins
Picking up my pace and shrugging this most violent year off
Leave this shit behind like yesterday's news
I′m less concerned with fear
I'm tryna to make moves

See cus yesterday
I watched a single magpie
Scrapping with some ravens twice its size
And never once did it succumb to pressure
So now I′m building from mistakes made
And switching lanes
Breathing in as much as lungs can measure

Understanding there is no time
So when I'm standing in this microphone booth it′s go time
I turn these four walls into a liminal space
And then create change
That's tangible for those who walk the same paths at different stages

Using these thoughts to fan flames
Engulfing these landscapes
I build up and then destroy that's just the process
That′s just the process

Notts City soil, industrious magpies toil
Guarding their hard-won spoils
The banks of the Trent brim with our pride
Treasures refracted
Dappling light

I woke up early this morning
Feeling a new side of my life
Sun was shining, you were on my mind
I woke up, I woke up early this morning
Feeling a new side of my life
Sun was shining, you were on my mind

I woke up early this morning
Feeling a new side of my life
Sun was shining, you were on my mind
I woke up early this morning
Feeling a new side of my life
Sun was shining, you were on my mind

I woke up early this morning
Feeling a new side of my life
Sun was shining, you were on my mind

Composed of legend and stories
She stood long before me
She formed me
