Paper and Bone Songtext
von Brine Webb

Paper and Bone Songtext

I need a brother
To teach me to swim.
One with a sister
With paper for skin,

And when we hit the water
I′ll try not to shake
When I see the paper
Fall from her face.

And we'll catch it on camera
When my brother cries,
And the light from the flashbulb
Will burn out our eyes.

And the gospel of Adam
Just me and my sister,
Paper and bone.

And the eternal city
Is covered in rust.
It′s falling to pieces.
It's turning to dust.
But we'll keep our heads down.
We′ll keep out mouths shut.
We′ll laugh if we have to.
We'll cry if we must.

At the top of the stairway,
She′ll tell me the news.
"Rome is on fire,
So you gotta choose.

You can kiss me on new year's
And float into space,
Or dance in the fire
And further the race."

Millions of people
Will gather around
To watch me and my sister
Burn to the ground,

And the sinners from Tulsa
Will all stand and laugh
At me and my sister,
Covered in ash.

And the eternal city
Is covered in rust.
It′s falling to pieces.
It's turning to dust.
But we′ll keep our heads down.
We'll keep out mouths shut.
We'll laugh if we have to.
We′ll cry if we must.

We′ll laugh if we have to.
We'll cry if we must.
