Neurodiversity Songtext

Neurodiversity Songtext
The sound of silence
For the first time in my days
No longer trying to hold
To hold the chaos at bay
The way
So many have looked at me
With disappointment
He′s so lazy
He's so gifted
It′s plain to see
He could be better if he wanted to be
Over and over, playing the game
Masking myself, being the same
Back in the 80s it didn't have a name
If I was this smart, then I must be to blame
So I gave it my all, fought through the pain
Learned to excel, fought through the drain
I'll never be good enough, so says my brain
It′s time for us all to be a little more humane
All of these years
It′s plain to see
What the world needs now
Is a whole lot more empathy
We like to judge
Mischaracterize
Voices, hearts, and minds
Only now to find
We fought back
And we endured
We used our brilliant minds and open hearts just because we could
And now it's time
With understanding less blurred
This is who we are, we can′t be cured
Everyday we start to find
More and more about the mind
And how to use our gifts to better the world
And heal others in kind
Without drugging out our minds
Without leaving kids behind
No childhood erased
And all the problems that creates
All of these years
It's plain to see
What the world needs now
Is a whole lot more empathy
Autism, ADHD, ASD
Not a disability
So come with me
Enough words, let′s go!
For the first time in my days
No longer trying to hold
To hold the chaos at bay
The way
So many have looked at me
With disappointment
He′s so lazy
He's so gifted
It′s plain to see
He could be better if he wanted to be
Over and over, playing the game
Masking myself, being the same
Back in the 80s it didn't have a name
If I was this smart, then I must be to blame
