Oak and Stone Songtext

Oak and Stone Songtext

In mountain springs
Headwaters rise in those hills
I may find peace of mind
The river source has gone to ground
Hard to reach eagle soar
Search in distant lands

This is what I came for
What I longed for
And it changes everything and nothing at all
Here is a face from those old pictures
Black and white turned to gold
In these trembling hands

Long time coming
Long journey home
Oak and stone, lands unknown
To reveal worlds apart
Stranger still how can I close the space
While we still draw breath

This is what I came for
What I longed for
And it changes everything and nothing at all
Here is a face from those old pictures
Black and white turned to gold
In these trembling hands

Winter born in distant hills
The way downstream is further still
Through elderflower and hawthorn woods
Starlings dancing high above
All roads lead to somewhere else
And never seem to reach an end
The order of the woods unchanged
The constellations are the same
Time to put this thing to rest
Time to leave the empty stage
A footnote, an unwritten page
Words are better left unsaid
Stories do not always find an end
(Just remember)
His heart to find out of reach
Out of time and so far from home

This is what I came for
What I longed for
And it changes everything and nothing at all
