When we were young, how we could fly
How we could float along like summer winds and touch the sky
The world was ours, and how we dreamed
Our lives were intertwined forever so it seemed

We made our plans, I′d be a painter or a poet
Live in Paris, in a cheap hotel or garret
And you would be my everything, my Muse, too wonderful to lose
When we were young, so very young


It could have been, but so it goes
It's the mystery of life nobody ever knows
No "second shows", no "once again"
We only turn a fleeting glance to what was then

One small note of regret, it could have been and yet
We kind of lost our way from day to day
The years just faded away, they had no time to stay
Time will not wait for lovers′ fanciful dreams
