Winter Kills Songtext
von Alison Moyet

Winter Kills Songtext

Green in your love
On bright days
You grew sun blind
You thought me unkind
To remind you
How winter kills

Lost in daydreams
You drove too fast
And got nowhere
You rolled on halfway
When you got too scared
How winter kills

I′ll tear at you searching for weaker seams

(Winter kills)
Oh, winter kills
(Winter kills)
Oh, winter kills
(Winter kills)
Oh, winter kills
(Winter kills)
Oh, winter kills

(Winter kills)

Oh, winter kills
(Winter kills)
Oh, winter kills

Thank you

So this next song we're gonna, um, play for you now, um, sums up to me

What The Minutes means to me. And, uh, the song was, uh, written
After I′d, I'd had a weekend away in Amsterdam. And, and it was, you
Know, one of those times where, miserable afternoon and nothing to
Do, so kind of thought, "Pictures, pictures, that's the result." You
Know, something I didn′t have to concentrate on too much, didn′t have
To think too hard. I was just gonna sit and receive, that's, that′s
What I was up for. Um, anyway, gee, gee, you, you, you folks. So I
Went into, I went into this cinema and, um, and I sat down and I
Thought, you know, it was like, you know, you know, big star names
I really didn't think it was gonna be challenging. As it transpired

This film was like an art house film. So there was no real narrative
There was no dialogue. It was all like that advert you had on the
Telly which was, "Oh, je ne sais quoi, oh la," you know, off. And you
Know, just, just, you know, oh, come on. Two hours in, two hours in
It′s still kind of going at this pace, but I'm settling down. I′m
I'm getting in with the pace of it. And, and meanwhile, all these
People are getting up and they're walking out, they′ve had enough
You know. And then right at the end of this film, there was this

This passage, this scene, you know, for about five minutes, which
Was really redemptive. It was, it was really, it was beautiful and
It kind of made you fold in over yourself with kind of, you know

Miserable joy, you know. And, and, um, which I like, you know I like
A bit of miserable joy, I like that. Um, so, so it was this, this

Really, this really lovely moment that I kind of thought, it occurred
To me then how often it is that people just leave too soon. They

Leave too soon, um, be it, you know, from a project they′re working
On, be it a job or their partnerships, their marriages, whatever

That they jump right before this corner that gets turned and
Something really fantastic happens, something really lovely happens
And that to me, you know, I kind of see that in, I kind of see that
In life. I've got to that stage in my life where I understand now

It′s not just me that's got everything wrong. We all get stuff wrong
We all mess up. We, we really do, you know. And, and you know what?
It′s like our happy moments, they really do only, our real joyful

Wonderful moments only do exist in minutes. They really are only
Minutes that are suspended in these pedestrian years. Um, and that's
Alright. You know, it′s really alright. It's the way it is for
Everyone. And, um, and when you get your head around
That, then you just stop feeling bitter and, and you
Know, it's just let it come when it comes. And, and
That′s what this song′s about. It's called "Filigree"
