Always Almost Songtext

Another day a thousand miles
Trashed out on some plane
Crashed into you again
Old news
Scenes go by
I′m occupied with
Notes I can't sustain
Hope this old refrain
Breaks loose
We were always almost done
We lived that way so long
I got so used to holding on
That letting go somehow felt wrong
I wound up sitting at my piano singing blues
Chasing a cure for getting over you
All these green graffitied walls
Have such forgiving hearts
They hear my calls
And see me fall to pieces
I played a Jayhawk eighty eight
One basement afternoon
So perfect out of tune
Moved all of the needles
Well worn and well acquainted
Damned as demonstrated
In a flash the years have passed
I never even moved
Still sitting at that piano singing blues
Close to a cure for getting over you

Last I checked this winter′s lasted almost 7 years
I'm keeping warm by burning all my bridges
The beauty of this empty page is
Any word can rhyme
Played in perfect time and pitches
A sky of stars exploded
Above lovers getting loaded
Me?
I'm up all night
As I′m compelled to do
Sitting at this piano singing blues
Close to a cure for getting over
One step closer to a cure
For getting over you
