Monsters
Once upon a time their grotesque forms crawled up columns
Crept along balustrades and hung from the balconies of churches
As reminders of the tribulations that awaited sinners
Today these creatures mostly populate Hollywood horror films
And psychotic books, fantasy literature
Animation and children′s stories
Their context has changed
But their linguistic root has endured across these vast spans of time
Monstrum means not only a divine omen
But also a misfortune of divine proportions
Monsters stir fear and loathing
They violate the natural order by sprouting appendages
And fusing incongruous species
And just as the universe began
So does my plight and yours
With a series of loud and subsequent bang-bangs
Hail was the last I came
So much was sour serene
Haha
No, no, it's a slow descent really
Now you′ve got it
A better view?
Here's a grace when most replace
With something far more shallow
Here's a space when most disgrace
Let me show you how to
Hail was the last I came
So much was sour serene
I was around the bend
But so much more I can′t believe
Once upon a time their grotesque forms crawled up columns
Crept along balustrades and hung from the balconies of churches
As reminders of the tribulations that awaited sinners
Today these creatures mostly populate Hollywood horror films
And psychotic books, fantasy literature
Animation and children′s stories
