Back in 1989 Songtext
von Wisecräcker

We′ve been doing this shit for almost twenty years
But now it's all gone
Must have been drinking over a million beers
But couldn′t write a good song
Time flies and right now I don't even know
I don't know where you′re at
So I try to remember only
The good times we′ve had

Back in 1989
I had your back and you had mine

We have been playing on every local stage
In all those backwater towns
Sometimes we didn't even get paid
But nothing could bring us down
Now it′s over and I don't know
Whether to laugh or cry
If the crowd is singing along to our songs
I wave my hand in goodbye

But back in 1989
I had your back and you had mine

We′ve been going on and on
But we never had a chance (Never had a chance)
And you know we'll be forgotten
Like all the other bands (All the other bands)
Get paid before, quickly coming up
Now we′re long gone
So enjoy this moment while it lasts
This is for you, this is your song

This is your song
But now we're gone

You know this song could be about you and me
Or every other band
Your fifteen minutes of fame
They came and they went
Maybe they didn't come at all
Somehow you missed your chance
And now you′re back among the people
Who came here to dance

Back in 1989
I had your back and you had mine

We′ve been going on and on
But we never had a chance (Never had a chance)
And you know we'll be forgotten
Like all the other bands (All the other bands)

But back in 1989
I had your back and you had mine

We′ve been going on and on
But we never had a chance (Never had a chance)
And you know we'll be forgotten
Like all the other bands (All the other bands)
Get paid before, quickly coming up
Now we′re long gone
So enjoy this moment while it lasts
This is for you, this is your song
