Sumes Songtext
von Why?

It′s been about a month now
Since we went our separate ways
It's true time flies when your having fun
′Cause it only seems like days
And that's a month you've had to give me back
All the things you thought you′d use
But I′ve seen nowt and what about
My patent leather shoes?

Yesterday I woke up at five AM
To get up with the dawn
I put some old clothes on, I went out into my garden
And walked up and down my lawn
I started work quite quickly
And then reduced to slower
But looking around, the grass was no shorter
'Cause you′ve still got my mower

You've finally returned my calls
You′ve finally returned my post
I'm sorry to be a pest
You′ve finally returned my calls
You've finally returned my post
And what about the rest?

I returned home after work today
All ready to cook Chinese
But because you'd been since I last shopped
Went out to buy some cheese
I felt the chill when I got home
So I went to find my smock
Not only could I not find my smock
You′ve also nicked my wok

You′ve finally returned my calls
You've finally returned my post
I′m sorry to be a pest
You've finally returned my calls
You′ve finally returned my post
And what about the rest?

I guess I may as well forget it now
I guess I may as well give up
You returned my love when I was with you
And after all I still have your cup
I guess I may as well give in now
I guess I should just let it be
I tell you what, I will the day
You give back my Eddi Reader CD

I actually wrote this song last year
But it sounded like Hotel California
Everybody laughed, I was so naive
For The Eagles were simply birds of prey to me
It means nothing to me now it's all in the past
And I changed all the music and made it fast
I′ve altered all the chords, stupefied the text
Just to make this one sound like all the rest

You've finally returned my calls
You've finally returned my post
I′m sorry to be a pest
You′ve finally returned my calls
You've finally returned my post
And what about the rest?
