Burning Cloud Songtext
von What Awaits Us

Welcome to a modern life
Open up the bag of tricks
Limitless ideas on your fingertips
Entity, so divine
It′s difficult to decide
Where to find the loop this time?

The evolution of machines
Will justify the means
Carbon emissions just to power the screens
Generating images inconceivably dumb
Make a whale in space or a squirrel with a gun

The data don't come free
The cost is unforeseen
Drinking the rivers dry
With no one asking why
We spend and drill the earth
Never once thinking of how much is it worth
Just don′t say it aloud
Don't say it out loud
Under a burning cloud

Welcome to a modern life
Your comfort is protected
No need to know how resources are collected
Meanwhile, somewhere far
Mining for your electric car
Underage, minimum wage, it's truly bizarre

WE WANT TO SAVE THE WORLD
But disagree on how
It truly makes us concerned
Under a burning cloud

The data don′t come free
The cost is unforeseen
Drinking the rivers dry
With no one asking why
We spend and drill the earth
Never once thinking of how much is it worth
Just don′t say it aloud
Don't say it out loud
Don′t say it out loud

We need to stop and think this through
What kind of utopia is it that we pursue
Don't say it out loud
Under a burning cloud

WE WANT TO SAVE THE WORLD
But disagree on how
