So Long, Hank Songtext
von Wayne Kramer

So Long, Hank Songtext

On March 10, 1994, Charles Bukowski died
I′m gonna miss that man of books and poems
Hank, who told the truth in all things
About men and women
And loneliness and isolation

And peace when he could find it
In a bottle
Or in a woman
Or in a hotel room
All alone
Hank, who wrote it all down on paper
And helped me find my way

And in New York City, while working for a slumlord
I found Factorum
And I saw myself there on the page
Reborn
Like he was talking to me

I was drinking, I was fucking up
Just like Hank
Me too, Hank
Me too, baby
I'd make a couple of bucks
And then we′d go over to the Park Inn
With crazy, negative girlfriends

Made me feel like maybe I wasn't the disaster I thought I was

But in Los Angeles, Hank has died
And I'm gonna miss that man
You′re free now, Hank
G′wan out to the racetrack, Hank
Get a bottle of good wine, Hank
I'll see you on the other side, Hank
Oh, Hank
Giant man

Oh, Hank
Giant manSo long, Hank
But he′ll always be there for me
And for you
And we'll never forget
And we′ll spread your idea
That kindness is just about the best we can do
